Honey Harvest – May 24

The May harvest of rapeseed honey is one of the most eagerly awaited moments in our apiary, full of work, joy and satisfaction.

May is a special time for us, as this is when we begin one of the most eagerly awaited moments of the year – the harvest of rapeseed honey. We would like to share our experiences and joy from this special event with you.

Preparations for the honey harvest

Preparations for the honey harvest begin several days in advance. The hives are carefully checked, and the honey is tested for water content, which tells us whether it is mature.

The rapeseed flow is extremely abundant, which means that beekeepers work almost as hard as the bees during this intense period. The honey harvest is the result of the hard work of both the insects and their keepers.

The honey harvesting process

Honey harvesting is a true art that requires precision and gentleness. We choose warm, sunny days to keep stress for the bees to a minimum.

Our bees are well protected, and we, dressed in protective suits, begin our work.

The first step is to open the hives gently. We try to do this as carefully as possible so as not to disturb the lives of our little workers.

Next, we remove the frames full of rapeseed honey. It is an emotional moment – the sight of golden combs is incredibly satisfying.

Extracting the honey

After collecting the frames, we begin the honey extraction process. The frames are placed in a special honey extractor, which gently spins them to separate the honey from the combs without damaging them.

This stage is very important, as it allows us to preserve the highest quality of honey without destroying the enormous amount of work the bees have put into building the combs.

Rapeseed honey has very distinctive qualities – it is very light, almost white, with a creamy consistency and a delicate, mild flavour.

It is highly valued by our customers not only for its taste, but also for its many beneficial properties.

Tasting and packing

After extraction, the honey is filtered to remove any impurities. Then comes the tasting – always one of our favourite moments.

The taste of freshly harvested rapeseed honey is hard to describe, and knowing that it comes from our own apiary gives us great satisfaction.

The honey is then packed into jars, which make their way onto our small, cosy shop shelf.

Each jar is the result of the hard work of our bees and our care for the highest quality product.

The joy of our work

The harvest of rapeseed honey is not only work, but above all joy and pride in what we do.

Every jar of honey is a small wonder of nature, brought to your tables thanks to our bees. We are happy to share this special product with you – the result of a harmonious cooperation between people and nature.

Thank you for being with us and supporting our passion.

See you in the next post, where we will share more events from our apiary!
